Sofia is the capital city of Bulgaria, and an important cultural and economic center in Southeastern Europe. Known in antiquity as Serdica, it is also one of the oldest settlements in the country, with history spanning several millennia.
Visitors can enjoy numerous monuments, churches, cultural venues and events, restaurants, parks, museums, galleries, and archaeological sites, while the Vitosha mountain rising to the south provides a scenic background and a distinct character to the city.
Sofia has a comprehensive public transportation network of bus, trolleybus, tram and underground (metro) lines. The city center and many points of interest can be easily reached from the conference venue via the M1 and M4 metro lines. Information regarding the transportation options can be found here.
